# How to choose a Christian AI app.

> The word “Christian” on an app listing is not a promise. Ask any Christian AI these six questions before you bring it your Bible questions and prayers. Here is how Lumin answers them, with a link to where each answer is kept in public.

## Six questions for any Christian AI

### 1. Can you open the source?

A named verse you can read is the difference between help and a confident guess. Look for: Every answer names Scripture, and the reference actually says what the answer claims.

**How Lumin answers:** Every Lumin answer names the Scripture behind it, and the reference stays visible so you can open the passage and read it in context. If a saying is not in the Bible, Lumin says so. (https://www.lumin.faith/ask, https://www.lumin.faith/about#how-we-cite)

### 2. Does it say what it will not do?

Honest tools publish their limits. Tools without limits drift into roles they cannot hold. Look for: A public page on limits, crisis situations, and where to go for a pastor or counselor.

**How Lumin answers:** The Lumin Covenant lists what Lumin will not do, in public: speak for God, stand in for your church, settle every disagreement, turn a crisis into content, or pretend to be certain. (https://www.lumin.faith/trust)

### 3. Whose voice is it using?

An app speaking as Jesus, God, a prophet, or your pastor claims authority it does not have. Look for: It speaks as software, not as a person of faith or a figure from Scripture.

**How Lumin answers:** Lumin will not speak as Jesus, as God, as a prophet, or as your pastor. It cites Scripture and stays a tool. (https://www.lumin.faith/does-lumin-speak-as-jesus)

### 4. Whose theology is behind it?

Every answer to a contested question reflects someone’s tradition. You should know whose. Look for: A stated position, and honesty where faithful Christians disagree.

**How Lumin answers:** Lumin is broadly and historically Christian. Where faithful Christians differ, on baptism or predestination for example, it presents the main readings instead of handing down a verdict. Historic voices like Augustine, Luther, and C.S. Lewis are optional. (https://www.lumin.faith/trust)

### 5. What happens to what you tell it?

People tell faith apps about sin, grief, and marriage. That deserves more care than a shopping list. Look for: Clear answers on what is saved, who can see it, and how to delete it.

**How Lumin answers:** You control what Lumin remembers. Saved items live under You → Lumin Remembers, where you can review and delete them, and there is a published path for deleting account data. No guilt-based reminders or streak shaming. (https://www.lumin.faith/trust, https://www.lumin.faith/privacy-policy.html)

### 6. Does it send you back to people?

Christian faith is lived in a church. A good tool ends with Scripture, prayer, and a person. Look for: It points to church and pastors, and it is not built to keep you chatting.

**How Lumin answers:** Lumin is built around your own church: Sermon Week carries Sunday’s sermon into the week, and Lumin points you to your pastor and your people when that is where a question belongs. (https://www.lumin.faith/sermon-week, https://www.lumin.faith/can-ai-replace-a-pastor)

## Common questions

### What is the best Christian AI app?

The best one is the one that passes these six questions for the job you need. If you want Bible answers with the verse beside them, guided prayer, and a way to carry Sunday’s sermon into the week, that is what Lumin is built for.

### How do I know if a Christian AI app is trustworthy?

Look for named Scripture you can open, published limits, no voice pretending to be Jesus or your pastor, a stated theological position, clear control over your data, and a design that sends you back to your church.

### How does Lumin compare with other Christian apps?

The comparison pages go app by app, including Bible Chat, Hallow, YouVersion, Pray.com, and ChatGPT, with where each one is the better fit.

### Is Lumin free?

Yes, Lumin is free to start on iPhone and iPad. Lumin+ adds higher daily limits and The Counsel. Pricing is shown in the App Store before you confirm a purchase.
