1. In the spring of the year, the time when kings go out to battle, Joab led out the army and ravaged the land of the Ammonites. He came and besieged Rabbah, while David stayed in Jerusalem. Joab attacked Rabbah and tore it down.

5. Again there was war with the Philistines, and Elhanan son of Jair killed Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, whose spear shaft was like a weaver’s beam.
6. Again there was war at Gath, where there was a man of great size who had six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot, twenty-four in all. He also was descended from Rapha.
7. When he taunted Israel, Jonathan son of Shimea, David’s brother, killed him.
8. These were descendants of Rapha in Gath, and they fell by the hand of David and his servants.
