1. The divisions of the gatekeepers were as follows. Of the Korahites: Meshelemiah son of Kore, of the sons of Asaph.
2. Meshelemiah had sons: Zechariah the firstborn, Jediael the second, Zebadiah the third, Jathniel the fourth,
3. Elam the fifth, Jehohanan the sixth, and Eliehoenai the seventh.
4. Obed-edom had sons: Shemaiah the firstborn, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, Sachar the fourth, Nethanel the fifth,
5. Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, and Peullethai the eighth, for God had blessed him.
6. Sons were also born to his son Shemaiah, who were leaders in their father’s family, for they were capable men.

11. Hilkiah the second, Tebaliah the third, and Zechariah the fourth. All the sons and relatives of Hosah were thirteen.
12. These divisions of the gatekeepers, by their chief men, had duties, just as their relatives did, to minister in the house of Yahweh.
13. They cast lots for each gate by their families, small and great alike.
14. The lot for the east gate fell to Shelemiah. Then they cast lots for his son Zechariah, a wise counselor, and his lot came out for the north gate.
15. Obed-edom’s lot was for the south gate, and his sons’ lot was for the storehouse.
16. The lots for Shuppim and Hosah were for the west gate and the Shallecheth Gate on the ascending road. Guard was stationed next to guard.
17. On the east there were six Levites each day, on the north four each day, on the south four each day, and at the storehouse two by two.
18. At the colonnade on the west there were four at the road and two at the colonnade.
19. These were the divisions of the gatekeepers among the descendants of Korah and the descendants of Merari.
20. Of the Levites, Ahijah was in charge of the treasuries of the house of God and the treasuries of the dedicated gifts.
21. The descendants of Ladan, who were Gershonites through Ladan, and who were heads of families belonging to Ladan the Gershonite: Jehieli.
22. The sons of Jehieli, Zetham and his brother Joel, were in charge of the treasuries of the house of Yahweh.
23. Of the Amramites, the Izharites, the Hebronites, and the Uzzielites:
24. Shebuel son of Gershom, son of Moses, was the chief officer in charge of the treasuries.
25. His relatives through Eliezer were Rehabiah his son, Jeshaiah his son, Joram his son, Zichri his son, and Shelomoth his son.
26. This Shelomoth and his relatives were in charge of all the treasuries of the dedicated gifts that King David, the heads of families, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and the commanders of the army had dedicated.
27. They dedicated some of the plunder from the wars to maintain the house of Yahweh.
28. Everything that Samuel the seer, Saul son of Kish, Abner son of Ner, and Joab son of Zeruiah had dedicated, and anything else anyone had dedicated, was in the care of Shelomoth and his relatives.
29. Of the Izharites, Chenaniah and his sons were assigned to duties outside the temple, as officials and judges over Israel.
30. Of the Hebronites, Hashabiah and his relatives, 1,700 capable men, were in charge of Israel west of the Jordan, for all the work of Yahweh and for the service of the king.
31. Of the Hebronites, Jerijah was the chief of the Hebronites according to their family records. In the fortieth year of David’s reign a search was made, and capable warriors were found among them at Jazer in Gilead.
32. King David appointed his relatives, 2,700 capable men who were heads of families, over the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh for every matter concerning God and every matter concerning the king.
