Lumin’s own translation, drafted with AI from the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, checked verse by verse against them, and approved by Lumin. Brackets mark verses not found in the earliest manuscripts.

1. Simeon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have received a faith equal in value to ours, through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ:
2. May grace and peace be yours in full measure through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.
3. His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through the knowledge of the one who called us by his own glory and goodness.
4. Through these he has given us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may share in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world because of evil desire.
5. For this very reason, make every effort to add goodness to your faith; and to goodness, knowledge;
6. and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, endurance; and to endurance, godliness;
7. and to godliness, affection for your brothers and sisters; and to that affection, love.
8. For if these qualities are yours and are growing, they keep you from being useless or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9. But whoever lacks them is blind and nearsighted, and has forgotten that their past sins were washed away.
10. So, brothers and sisters, be all the more eager to make your calling and election firm, for if you do these things, you will never stumble.
11. In this way you will be richly provided with an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
12. So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have.
13. I think it right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by reminding you,
14. because I know that my tent will soon be put aside, as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me.
15. And I will make every effort to see that after my departure you will always be able to recall these things.
16. For we did not follow cleverly invented stories when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ; we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
17. For he received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is my Son, my beloved; I am well pleased with him.”
18. We ourselves heard this voice come from heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain.
19. And we have the prophetic word confirmed all the more. You do well to pay attention to it, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.
20. Above all, understand this: no prophecy of Scripture comes from anyone’s own interpretation.
21. For no prophecy was ever brought about by human will; instead, people spoke from God as the Holy Spirit carried them along.
