1. The word of Yahweh came to me:
2. “As for you, son of man, this is what Lord Yahweh says to the land of Israel: An end! The end has come on the four corners of the land.
3. Now the end is upon you, and I will unleash my anger against you. I will judge you according to your ways and bring all your abominations upon you.
4. My eye will not spare you, and I will have no pity. I will bring your ways upon you, and your abominations will be among you. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.
5. This is what Lord Yahweh says: Disaster! A disaster like no other—look, it is coming!
6. An end has come; the end has come! It has awakened against you—look, it is coming!
7. Doom has come to you, you who live in the land. The time has come; the day is near—a day of panic, and not of joyful shouting on the mountains.
8. Very soon now I will pour out my wrath on you and spend my anger against you. I will judge you according to your ways and bring all your abominations upon you.
9. My eye will not spare, and I will have no pity. I will repay you according to your ways, and your abominations will be among you. Then you will know that it is I, Yahweh, who strike you.
10. Look, the day! Look, it is coming! Doom has gone out. The rod has blossomed; arrogance has budded.
11. Violence has grown into a rod of wickedness. Nothing will be left of them—nothing of their crowds, nothing of their wealth, and no splendor among them.
12. The time has come; the day has arrived. Let the buyer not rejoice or the seller mourn, for wrath is on all its crowds.
13. The seller will not get back what was sold, as long as they live. For the vision concerning all its crowds will not be turned back, and because of their iniquity, not one of them will hold on to life.
14. They have blown the trumpet and made everything ready, but no one goes into battle, for my wrath is on all its crowds.
15. The sword is outside; plague and famine are inside. Whoever is in the field will die by the sword, and whoever is in the city will be devoured by famine and plague.
16. Those who escape will flee to the mountains and be there like doves of the valleys, all of them moaning, each one over their iniquity.
17. Every hand will hang limp, and every knee will turn to water.
18. They will put on sackcloth, and horror will cover them. Shame will be on every face, and every head will be shaved bald.
19. They will throw their silver into the streets, and their gold will become an unclean thing. Their silver and their gold will not be able to rescue them on the day of Yahweh’s fury. It will not satisfy their hunger or fill their stomachs, for it was the stumbling block that led them into iniquity.
20. They took pride in their beautiful jewelry and used it to make their abominable images, their detestable things. Therefore I will make it an unclean thing to them.
21. I will hand it over to foreigners as plunder and to the wicked of the earth as spoil, and they will profane it.
22. I will turn my face away from them, and they will profane my treasured place. Robbers will enter it and profane it.
23. Forge a chain, for the land is full of bloody crimes, and the city is full of violence.
24. I will bring the worst of the nations, and they will take possession of their houses. I will put an end to the pride of the strong, and their holy places will be profaned.
25. Anguish is coming! They will seek peace, but there will be none.
26. Disaster will come upon disaster, and rumor will follow rumor. They will seek a vision from a prophet, but the law will be lost from the priest, and counsel from the elders.
27. The king will mourn, the prince will be clothed with despair, and the hands of the people of the land will tremble. I will deal with them according to their ways, and by their own standards I will judge them. Then they will know that I am Yahweh.”
