Lumin’s own translation, drafted with AI from the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, checked verse by verse against them, and approved by Lumin. Brackets mark verses not found in the earliest manuscripts.

1. Shout aloud; do not hold back! Raise your voice like a ram’s horn. Declare to my people their rebellion, and to the house of Jacob their sins.
2. Yet day after day they seek me and delight to know my ways, like a nation that practiced righteousness and did not forsake the justice of its God. They ask me for righteous judgments; they delight in drawing near to God.
3. “Why have we fasted,” they say, “and you do not see? Why have we humbled ourselves, and you do not notice?” Look, on the day of your fast you pursue your own interests and drive all your workers hard.
4. Look, you fast only to quarrel and fight and to strike with a wicked fist. Fasting as you do today will not make your voice heard on high.
5. Is this the kind of fast I choose, a day for a person to humble himself? Is it only to bow his head like a reed and to spread out sackcloth and ashes beneath him? Will you call this a fast, a day acceptable to Yahweh?
6. Is not this the fast I choose: to loosen the chains of wickedness, to untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free, and to break every yoke?
7. Is it not to share your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into your house, to cover the naked when you see them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
8. Then your light will break out like the dawn, and your healing will spring up quickly; your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of Yahweh will be your rear guard.
9. Then you will call, and Yahweh will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say, “Here I am.” If you remove the yoke from among you, the pointing finger and wicked speech,
10. if you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the needs of the afflicted, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your gloom will be like noon.
11. Yahweh will guide you continually; he will satisfy your needs in scorched places and strengthen your bones. You will be like a watered garden, like a spring of water whose waters never fail.
12. Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins; you will raise up the foundations laid generations ago. You will be called the Repairer of the Breach, the Restorer of Streets to Live In.
13. If you keep your foot from trampling the Sabbath, from doing as you please on my holy day, if you call the Sabbath a delight and the holy day of Yahweh honorable, and if you honor it by not going your own ways, not pursuing your own interests or speaking idle words,
14. then you will find your delight in Yahweh, and I will make you ride on the heights of the earth and feed you with the inheritance of Jacob your father. For the mouth of Yahweh has spoken.
