Lumin’s own translation, drafted with AI from the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, checked verse by verse against them, and approved by Lumin. Brackets mark verses not found in the earliest manuscripts.

1. If a man divorces his wife, and she leaves him and becomes another man’s wife, will he go back to her again? Would that land not be utterly polluted? But you have played the prostitute with many lovers—and would you now return to me? declares Yahweh.
2. Lift your eyes to the bare heights and look: where have you not been lain with? By the roadsides you sat waiting for them like an Arab in the desert. You have polluted the land with your prostitution and your wickedness.
3. So the showers have been held back, and the spring rain has not come. Yet you have the forehead of a prostitute; you refuse to be ashamed.
4. Have you not just now called to me, “My Father, you are the companion of my youth!
5. Will he stay angry forever? Will he keep it up to the end?” This is how you have talked, yet you have done all the evil you could.
6. Yahweh said to me in the days of King Josiah, “Have you seen what faithless Israel has done? She went up on every high mountain and under every green tree, and she played the prostitute there.
7. I thought, ‘After she has done all this, she will return to me,’ but she did not return. And her treacherous sister Judah saw it.
8. I saw that, even though I had sent faithless Israel away for all her adulteries and given her a certificate of divorce, her treacherous sister Judah was not afraid. She too went and played the prostitute.
9. Because her prostitution meant so little to her, she polluted the land, committing adultery with stone and tree.
10. Even so, in spite of all this, her treacherous sister Judah did not return to me with her whole heart, but only in pretense, declares Yahweh.”
11. Yahweh said to me, “Faithless Israel has shown herself more righteous than treacherous Judah.
12. Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say: Return, faithless Israel, declares Yahweh. I will not frown on you, for I am merciful, declares Yahweh; I will not stay angry forever.
13. Only acknowledge your guilt, that you rebelled against Yahweh your God, and wandered from one stranger to another under every green tree, and you have not listened to my voice, declares Yahweh.
14. Return, faithless children, declares Yahweh, for I am your master. I will take you, one from a city and two from a clan, and I will bring you to Zion.
15. I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will shepherd you with knowledge and understanding.
16. When you have multiplied and become fruitful in the land in those days, declares Yahweh, people will no longer say, ‘The ark of the covenant of Yahweh.’ It will not come to mind, they will not remember it or miss it, and another will not be made.
17. At that time they will call Jerusalem ‘The Throne of Yahweh,’ and all the nations will gather to it, to the name of Yahweh in Jerusalem. They will no longer follow the stubbornness of their evil hearts.
18. In those days the house of Judah will walk with the house of Israel, and together they will come from the land of the north to the land I gave your ancestors as an inheritance.
19. I myself said, ‘How gladly I would set you among my children and give you a pleasant land, the most beautiful inheritance among the nations!’ I said, ‘You will call me My Father, and you will not turn back from following me.’
20. But as a woman is unfaithful to her companion, so you have been unfaithful to me, house of Israel, declares Yahweh.
21. A voice is heard on the bare heights, the weeping and pleading of the people of Israel, because they have perverted their way; they have forgotten Yahweh their God.
22. Return, faithless children; I will heal your unfaithfulness. ‘Here we are; we come to you, for you are Yahweh our God.
23. Surely the hills are a deception, the uproar on the mountains. Surely in Yahweh our God is the salvation of Israel.
24. From our youth the shameful thing has devoured all that our ancestors worked for—their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters.
25. Let us lie down in our shame, and let our disgrace cover us, for we have sinned against Yahweh our God, we and our ancestors, from our youth until this day, and we have not obeyed the voice of Yahweh our God.’”
