Lumin’s own translation, drafted with AI from the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, checked verse by verse against them, and approved by Lumin. Brackets mark verses not found in the earliest manuscripts.

1. Run for safety, people of Benjamin, out of the middle of Jerusalem! Blow the trumpet in Tekoa, and raise a signal over Beth-haccherem, for disaster looms out of the north, a great destruction.
2. The daughter of Zion, so lovely and delicate—I will destroy her.
3. Shepherds with their flocks will come against her; they will pitch their tents all around her, and each will graze his own portion.
4. “Prepare for battle against her! Get up, let us attack at noon! Woe to us, for the day is fading, for the evening shadows are growing long!
5. Get up, let us attack by night and destroy her fortresses!”
6. For this is what Yahweh of Armies says: Cut down her trees and build a siege ramp against Jerusalem. This is the city that must be punished; there is nothing but oppression within her.
7. As a well keeps its water fresh, so she keeps her wickedness fresh. Violence and destruction are heard in her; sickness and wounds are always before me.
8. Take warning, Jerusalem, or I will turn away from you in disgust and make you a desolation, a land where no one lives.
9. This is what Yahweh of Armies says: They will glean the remnant of Israel as thoroughly as a vine. Pass your hand over the branches again, like one gathering grapes.
10. To whom can I speak and give warning, so that they will listen? Their ears are uncircumcised, and they cannot pay attention. The word of Yahweh has become an object of scorn to them; they take no pleasure in it.
11. But I am full of the wrath of Yahweh; I am weary of holding it in. Pour it out on the children in the street and on the young men gathered together, for both husband and wife will be caught, the old and those full of years.
12. Their houses will be turned over to others, their fields and their wives together, for I will stretch out my hand against those who live in the land, declares Yahweh.
13. For from the least to the greatest of them, everyone is greedy for unjust gain; from prophet to priest, everyone deals falsely.
14. They have treated the wound of my people as if it were not serious, saying, “Peace, peace,” when there is no peace.
15. Were they ashamed when they did detestable things? No, they were not at all ashamed; they did not even know how to blush. So they will fall among those who fall; when I punish them, they will stumble, says Yahweh.
16. This is what Yahweh says: Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But they said, “We will not walk in it.”
17. I set watchmen over you and said, “Listen to the sound of the trumpet!” But they said, “We will not listen.”
18. Therefore hear, you nations; know, you assembly, what will happen to them.
19. Hear, earth! I am about to bring disaster on this people, the fruit of their own schemes, because they have not paid attention to my words, and they have rejected my law.
20. What use to me is frankincense that comes from Sheba, or sweet cane from a distant land? Your burnt offerings are not acceptable, and your sacrifices do not please me.
21. Therefore this is what Yahweh says: I am about to put stumbling blocks before this people. Fathers and sons together will stumble over them; neighbor and friend will perish.
22. This is what Yahweh says: Look, a people is coming from the land of the north; a great nation is stirring from the far ends of the earth.
23. They grip bow and spear; they are cruel and show no mercy. Their voice roars like the sea; they ride on horses, lined up like warriors for battle against you, daughter of Zion.
24. We have heard the report of them; our hands hang limp. Anguish has seized us, pain like a woman in labor.
25. Do not go out into the field or walk on the road, for the enemy has a sword; terror is on every side.
26. Daughter of my people, put on sackcloth and roll in ashes. Mourn as for an only son, with bitter lamentation, for suddenly the destroyer will come upon us.
27. I have made you a tester of metals among my people, a fortress, so that you may know and test their ways.
28. They are all stubborn rebels, going around spreading slander. They are bronze and iron; all of them act corruptly.
29. The bellows blow fiercely; the lead is consumed by the fire. The refining goes on in vain, for the wicked are not removed.
30. They are called rejected silver, because Yahweh has rejected them.
