1. Yahweh spoke to Moses and Aaron:
2. “When someone has a swelling or a scab or a shiny spot on the skin of his body, and it becomes a case of serious skin disease on the skin of his body, he is to be brought to Aaron the priest or to one of his sons the priests.
3. The priest is to examine the infection on the skin of his body. If the hair in the infection has turned white and the infection appears to be deeper than the skin of his body, it is a case of serious skin disease. When the priest has examined him, he is to pronounce him unclean.
4. But if the shiny spot on the skin of his body is white and does not appear to be deeper than the skin, and its hair has not turned white, the priest is to isolate the infected person for seven days.
5. On the seventh day the priest is to examine him. If in his judgment the infection has not changed and has not spread in the skin, the priest is to isolate him for another seven days.
6. The priest is to examine him again on the seventh day. If the infection has faded and has not spread in the skin, the priest is to pronounce him clean; it is only a scab. He must wash his clothes, and he will be clean.
7. But if the scab spreads in the skin after he has shown himself to the priest to be pronounced clean, he must show himself to the priest again.
8. The priest is to examine him, and if the scab has spread in the skin, the priest is to pronounce him unclean; it is a serious skin disease.
9. When anyone has a case of serious skin disease, he is to be brought to the priest.
10. The priest is to examine him. If there is a white swelling in the skin that has turned the hair white, and there is raw flesh in the swelling,
11. it is a chronic serious skin disease on the skin of his body, and the priest is to pronounce him unclean. He is not to isolate him, for he is already unclean.
12. If the serious skin disease breaks out all over the skin, so that it covers all the skin of the infected person from his head to his feet, as far as the priest can see,
13. the priest is to examine him. If the disease has covered his whole body, he is to pronounce the infected person clean. It has all turned white; he is clean.
14. But whenever raw flesh appears on him, he will be unclean.
15. The priest is to examine the raw flesh and pronounce him unclean. The raw flesh is unclean; it is a serious skin disease.
16. But if the raw flesh changes again and turns white, he is to go to the priest.
17. The priest is to examine him, and if the infection has turned white, the priest is to pronounce the infected person clean; he is clean.
18. When someone has a boil on his skin and it heals,
19. and in the place of the boil there appears a white swelling or a reddish-white shiny spot, it must be shown to the priest.
20. The priest is to examine it. If it appears to be lower than the skin and its hair has turned white, the priest is to pronounce him unclean. It is a case of serious skin disease that has broken out in the boil.
21. But if the priest examines it and there is no white hair in it, and it is not lower than the skin but has faded, the priest is to isolate him for seven days.
22. If it spreads in the skin, the priest is to pronounce him unclean; it is an infection.
23. But if the shiny spot stays where it is and does not spread, it is only the scar of the boil, and the priest is to pronounce him clean.
24. Or when someone has a burn on his skin, and the raw flesh of the burn becomes a reddish-white or white shiny spot,
25. the priest is to examine it. If the hair in the shiny spot has turned white and it appears to be deeper than the skin, it is a serious skin disease that has broken out in the burn. The priest is to pronounce him unclean; it is a case of serious skin disease.
26. But if the priest examines it and there is no white hair in the shiny spot, and it is not lower than the skin but has faded, the priest is to isolate him for seven days.
27. The priest is to examine him on the seventh day. If it has spread in the skin, the priest is to pronounce him unclean; it is a case of serious skin disease.
28. But if the shiny spot stays where it is and has not spread in the skin but has faded, it is the swelling from the burn. The priest is to pronounce him clean, for it is only the scar of the burn.
29. When a man or a woman has an infection on the head or in the beard,
30. the priest is to examine the infection. If it appears to be deeper than the skin and there is thin yellow hair in it, the priest is to pronounce him unclean. It is a scaly patch, a serious skin disease of the head or the beard.
31. But if the priest examines the scaly infection and it does not appear to be deeper than the skin, and there is no black hair in it, the priest is to isolate the person with the scaly infection for seven days.
32. On the seventh day the priest is to examine the infection. If the scaly patch has not spread, and there is no yellow hair in it, and the scaly patch does not appear to be deeper than the skin,
33. he is to shave himself, but he must not shave the scaly patch. The priest is to isolate the person with the scaly patch for another seven days.
34. On the seventh day the priest is to examine the scaly patch. If the scaly patch has not spread in the skin and does not appear to be deeper than the skin, the priest is to pronounce him clean. He must wash his clothes, and he will be clean.
35. But if the scaly patch spreads in the skin after he has been pronounced clean,
36. the priest is to examine him. If the scaly patch has spread in the skin, the priest does not need to look for yellow hair; he is unclean.
37. But if in his judgment the scaly patch has not changed and black hair has grown in it, the scaly patch has healed. He is clean, and the priest is to pronounce him clean.
38. When a man or a woman has shiny spots on the skin of the body, white shiny spots,
39. the priest is to examine them. If the shiny spots on the skin of their body are dull white, it is a harmless rash that has broken out on the skin; that person is clean.
40. If a man loses the hair on his head, he is bald, but he is clean.
41. If he loses the hair from the front of his head, he is bald on the forehead, but he is clean.
42. But if there is a reddish-white infection on the bald head or the bald forehead, it is a serious skin disease breaking out on his bald head or his bald forehead.
43. The priest is to examine him. If the swelling of the infection on his bald head or his bald forehead is reddish-white, like the appearance of serious skin disease on the skin of the body,
44. he is a man with a serious skin disease; he is unclean. The priest must pronounce him unclean; his infection is on his head.
45. The person with a serious skin disease who has the infection must wear torn clothes and let the hair of his head hang loose; he must cover his upper lip and cry out, ‘Unclean! Unclean!’
46. He will remain unclean as long as he has the infection. He is unclean. He must live alone; his dwelling must be outside the camp.
47. When a garment has a mold infection, whether a wool garment or a linen garment,
48. or in woven or knitted material of linen or wool, or in leather or anything made of leather,
49. if the infection in the garment or the leather, or in the woven or knitted material, or in any leather article, is greenish or reddish, it is a mold infection, and it must be shown to the priest.
50. The priest is to examine the infection and isolate the affected article for seven days.
51. On the seventh day he is to examine the infection. If the infection has spread in the garment, or in the woven or knitted material, or in the leather, whatever the leather is used for, the infection is a destructive mold; it is unclean.
52. He must burn the garment, or the woven or knitted material of wool or linen, or any leather article that has the infection in it, for it is a destructive mold; it must be burned in the fire.
53. But if the priest examines it and the infection has not spread in the garment, or in the woven or knitted material, or in any leather article,
54. the priest is to order that the article with the infection be washed, and he is to isolate it for another seven days.
55. After the article with the infection has been washed, the priest is to examine it. If the infection has not changed its appearance, even though the infection has not spread, it is unclean. You must burn it in the fire; it is a corrosion, whether on the back or on the front.
56. But if the priest examines it and the infection has faded after it has been washed, he is to tear it out of the garment, or the leather, or the woven or knitted material.
57. If it appears again in the garment, or in the woven or knitted material, or in any leather article, it is breaking out; you must burn in the fire whatever has the infection.
58. But the garment, or the woven or knitted material, or any leather article that you wash and from which the infection disappears, is to be washed a second time, and it will be clean.
59. This is the law about a mold infection in a garment of wool or linen, or in woven or knitted material, or in any leather article, for pronouncing it clean or unclean.”
