1. Yahweh spoke to Moses:
2. “This is to be the law for the person with a serious skin disease on the day of his cleansing: he is to be brought to the priest.
3. The priest is to go outside the camp and examine him. If the person’s serious skin disease has healed,
4. the priest is to order that two live clean birds, some cedar wood, scarlet yarn, and hyssop be taken for the one to be cleansed.
5. The priest is to order that one of the birds be slaughtered over fresh water in a clay pot.
6. He is to take the live bird, together with the cedar wood, the scarlet yarn, and the hyssop, and dip them and the live bird in the blood of the bird that was slaughtered over the fresh water.
7. He is to sprinkle it seven times on the one to be cleansed from the serious skin disease and pronounce him clean. Then he is to release the live bird into the open field.
8. The one to be cleansed must wash his clothes, shave off all his hair, and bathe in water, and he will be clean. After that he may come into the camp, but he must stay outside his tent for seven days.
9. On the seventh day he must shave off all his hair: he must shave his head, his beard, his eyebrows, and all the rest of his hair. He must wash his clothes and bathe his body in water, and he will be clean.
10. On the eighth day he is to take two male lambs without defect and one ewe lamb a year old without defect, along with three tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering, and one log of oil.
11. The priest who performs the cleansing is to set the man to be cleansed, along with these offerings, before Yahweh at the entrance of the tent of meeting.
12. Then the priest is to take one of the male lambs and offer it as a guilt offering, along with the log of oil, and wave them as a wave offering before Yahweh.
13. He is to slaughter the lamb in the place where the sin offering and the burnt offering are slaughtered, in the holy place, for the guilt offering, like the sin offering, belongs to the priest; it is most holy.
14. The priest is to take some of the blood of the guilt offering and put it on the lobe of the right ear of the one to be cleansed, on the thumb of his right hand, and on the big toe of his right foot.
15. Then the priest is to take some of the log of oil and pour it into the palm of his own left hand.
16. The priest is to dip his right finger in the oil that is in his left palm and sprinkle some of the oil with his finger seven times before Yahweh.
17. From the rest of the oil in his palm the priest is to put some on the lobe of the right ear of the one to be cleansed, on the thumb of his right hand, and on the big toe of his right foot, on top of the blood of the guilt offering.
18. What is left of the oil in the priest’s palm he is to put on the head of the one to be cleansed. So the priest will make atonement for him before Yahweh.
19. Then the priest is to offer the sin offering and make atonement for the one to be cleansed from his uncleanness. After that he is to slaughter the burnt offering.
20. The priest is to offer the burnt offering and the grain offering on the altar. So the priest will make atonement for him, and he will be clean.
21. But if he is poor and cannot afford these, he is to take one male lamb as a guilt offering to be waved, to make atonement for him, and a tenth of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering, and a log of oil,
22. and two turtledoves or two young pigeons, whichever he can afford, one for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering.
23. On the eighth day he is to bring them for his cleansing to the priest at the entrance of the tent of meeting, before Yahweh.
24. The priest is to take the lamb of the guilt offering and the log of oil, and the priest is to wave them as a wave offering before Yahweh.
25. He is to slaughter the lamb of the guilt offering, and the priest is to take some of the blood of the guilt offering and put it on the lobe of the right ear of the one to be cleansed, on the thumb of his right hand, and on the big toe of his right foot.
26. The priest is to pour some of the oil into the palm of his own left hand,
27. and with his right finger the priest is to sprinkle some of the oil that is in his left palm seven times before Yahweh.
28. The priest is to put some of the oil that is in his palm on the lobe of the right ear of the one to be cleansed, on the thumb of his right hand, and on the big toe of his right foot, on the same places as the blood of the guilt offering.
29. What is left of the oil in the priest’s palm he is to put on the head of the one to be cleansed, to make atonement for him before Yahweh.
30. Then he is to offer one of the turtledoves or young pigeons, from whatever he can afford,
31. offering what he can afford, one as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering, along with the grain offering. So the priest will make atonement before Yahweh for the one to be cleansed.
32. This is the law for anyone who has a case of serious skin disease and has only limited means for his cleansing.”
33. Yahweh spoke to Moses and Aaron:
34. “When you come into the land of Canaan, which I am giving you as your possession, and I put a mold infection in a house in the land you possess,
35. the owner of the house is to come and tell the priest, ‘Something like an infection has appeared in my house.’
36. The priest is to order that the house be emptied before he goes in to examine the infection, so that nothing in the house will become unclean. After that the priest is to go in to examine the house.
37. He is to examine the infection. If the infection in the walls of the house consists of greenish or reddish depressions that appear to be lower than the surface of the wall,
38. the priest is to go out of the house to its doorway and close up the house for seven days.
39. On the seventh day the priest is to return and examine it. If the infection has spread in the walls of the house,
40. the priest is to order that the stones with the infection in them be pulled out and thrown into an unclean place outside the city.
41. He is to have the inside of the house scraped all around, and the plaster that is scraped off is to be dumped outside the city in an unclean place.
42. Then they are to take other stones and put them in place of those stones, and he is to take other plaster and replaster the house.
43. If the infection breaks out again in the house after the stones have been pulled out and the house has been scraped and replastered,
44. the priest is to come and examine it. If the infection has spread in the house, it is a destructive mold in the house; it is unclean.
45. He is to tear down the house, its stones, its timbers, and all the plaster of the house, and take it outside the city to an unclean place.
46. Anyone who goes into the house during any of the days it is closed up will be unclean until evening.
47. Anyone who lies down in the house must wash his clothes, and anyone who eats in the house must wash his clothes.
48. But if the priest comes and examines it, and the infection has not spread in the house after the house was replastered, the priest is to pronounce the house clean, because the infection is healed.
49. To purify the house he is to take two birds, some cedar wood, scarlet yarn, and hyssop.
50. He is to slaughter one of the birds over fresh water in a clay pot.
51. Then he is to take the cedar wood, the hyssop, the scarlet yarn, and the live bird, dip them in the blood of the slaughtered bird and in the fresh water, and sprinkle the house seven times.
52. So he will purify the house with the blood of the bird, the fresh water, the live bird, the cedar wood, the hyssop, and the scarlet yarn.
53. Then he is to release the live bird outside the city into the open field. So he will make atonement for the house, and it will be clean.
54. This is the law for any case of serious skin disease, for a scaly patch,
55. for mold in a garment or in a house,
56. and for a swelling, a scab, or a shiny spot,
57. to teach when something is unclean and when it is clean. This is the law about serious skin disease and mold.”
