1. Yahweh spoke to Moses:
2. “Speak to the Israelites: When anyone sins unintentionally against any of Yahweh’s commands about things that must not be done, and does any one of them—
3. if it is the anointed priest who sins, bringing guilt on the people, he is to offer to Yahweh, for the sin he has committed, a young bull without defect as a sin offering.
4. He is to bring the bull to the entrance of the tent of meeting before Yahweh, lay his hand on the bull’s head, and slaughter the bull before Yahweh.
5. Then the anointed priest is to take some of the bull’s blood and bring it into the tent of meeting.
6. The priest is to dip his finger in the blood and sprinkle some of the blood seven times before Yahweh, in front of the curtain of the sanctuary.
7. The priest is to put some of the blood on the horns of the altar of fragrant incense that is before Yahweh in the tent of meeting, and he is to pour out all the rest of the bull’s blood at the base of the altar of burnt offering, which is at the entrance of the tent of meeting.
8. He is to remove all the fat from the bull of the sin offering: the fat that covers the entrails and all the fat that is on the entrails,
9. the two kidneys with the fat that is on them at the loins, and the lobe of the liver, which he is to remove with the kidneys,
10. just as it is removed from the ox of the sacrifice of fellowship offerings. The priest is to burn them on the altar of burnt offering.
11. But the hide of the bull and all its flesh, with its head and its legs, its entrails and its dung—
12. the whole bull—he is to take outside the camp to a clean place, where the ashes are poured out, and burn it on a wood fire. It is to be burned where the ashes are poured out.
13. If the whole congregation of Israel errs unintentionally and the matter is hidden from the eyes of the assembly, and they do any one of the things Yahweh has commanded must not be done, and they are guilty,
14. when the sin they have committed becomes known, the assembly is to offer a young bull as a sin offering and bring it in front of the tent of meeting.
15. The elders of the congregation are to lay their hands on the bull’s head before Yahweh, and the bull is to be slaughtered before Yahweh.
16. Then the anointed priest is to bring some of the bull’s blood into the tent of meeting.
17. The priest is to dip his finger in the blood and sprinkle it seven times before Yahweh, in front of the curtain.
18. He is to put some of the blood on the horns of the altar that is before Yahweh in the tent of meeting, and he is to pour out all the rest of the blood at the base of the altar of burnt offering, which is at the entrance of the tent of meeting.
19. He is to remove all its fat from it and burn it on the altar.
20. He is to do with this bull just as he did with the bull of the sin offering; he is to do the same with it. So the priest will make atonement for them, and they will be forgiven.
21. Then he is to take the bull outside the camp and burn it just as he burned the first bull. It is the sin offering for the assembly.
22. When a leader sins and unintentionally does any one of the things that Yahweh his God has commanded must not be done, and he is guilty,
23. or the sin he has committed is made known to him, he is to bring as his offering a male goat without defect.
24. He is to lay his hand on the head of the goat and slaughter it in the place where the burnt offering is slaughtered before Yahweh. It is a sin offering.
25. Then the priest is to take some of the blood of the sin offering with his finger and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and pour out the rest of its blood at the base of the altar of burnt offering.
26. He is to burn all its fat on the altar, like the fat of the sacrifice of fellowship offerings. So the priest will make atonement for him for his sin, and he will be forgiven.
27. If any one of the common people sins unintentionally by doing any one of the things that Yahweh has commanded must not be done, and is guilty,
28. or the sin he has committed is made known to him, he is to bring as his offering, for the sin he has committed, a female goat without defect.
29. He is to lay his hand on the head of the sin offering and slaughter the sin offering at the place of the burnt offering.
30. Then the priest is to take some of its blood with his finger and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and pour out all the rest of its blood at the base of the altar.
31. He is to remove all its fat, just as the fat is removed from the sacrifice of fellowship offerings, and the priest is to burn it on the altar as a pleasing aroma to Yahweh. So the priest will make atonement for him, and he will be forgiven.
32. If he brings a lamb as his offering for a sin offering, he is to bring a female without defect.
33. He is to lay his hand on the head of the sin offering and slaughter it as a sin offering in the place where the burnt offering is slaughtered.
34. Then the priest is to take some of the blood of the sin offering with his finger and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and pour out all the rest of its blood at the base of the altar.
35. He is to remove all its fat, just as the fat of the lamb is removed from the sacrifice of fellowship offerings, and the priest is to burn it on the altar on top of the fire offerings to Yahweh. So the priest will make atonement for him for the sin he has committed, and he will be forgiven.
