*For the choir director. To the tune of “Do Not Destroy.” Of David. A miktam.*

1. Do you really speak what is right, you silent ones? Do you judge people fairly?
2. No, in your hearts you devise injustice; on the earth you weigh out the violence of your hands.
3. The wicked go wrong from the womb; they go astray from birth, speaking lies.
4. Their venom is like the venom of a snake, like a deaf cobra that stops up its ear,
5. so that it does not hear the voice of the charmers, of the most skillful weaver of spells.
6. God, break the teeth in their mouths; tear out the fangs of the young lions, Yahweh.
7. Let them vanish like water that runs away; when he aims his arrows, let them be as if cut off.
8. Let them be like a snail that melts away as it moves, like a woman’s stillborn child that never sees the sun.
9. Before your pots can feel the heat of the thorns, whether green or burning, he will sweep them away.
10. The righteous will rejoice when he sees vengeance; he will wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.
11. People will say, “Surely there is a reward for the righteous; surely there is a God who judges on the earth.”
