*For the choir director. With stringed instruments. According to the sheminith. A psalm of David.*

1. Yahweh, do not rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your fury.
2. Be gracious to me, Yahweh, for I am wasting away; heal me, Yahweh, for my bones are shaking.
3. My soul is shaken to its depths. But you, Yahweh—how long?
4. Turn back, Yahweh, rescue my life; save me because of your steadfast love.
5. For in death no one remembers you; in Sheol, who will praise you?
6. I am worn out from my groaning; all night long I flood my bed with weeping; I drench my couch with my tears.
7. My eye grows dim with grief; it grows weak because of all my foes.
8. Get away from me, all you who do wrong, for Yahweh has heard the sound of my weeping.
9. Yahweh has heard my plea for mercy; Yahweh accepts my prayer.
10. All my enemies will be ashamed and deeply shaken; they will turn back and be put to shame in an instant.
