1. After this I looked, and there in heaven was a door standing open! And the first voice, which I had heard speaking with me like a trumpet, said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.”
2. At once I was in the Spirit, and there in heaven stood a throne, with someone seated on the throne.
3. The one seated there looked like jasper and carnelian, and around the throne was a rainbow that looked like an emerald.
4. Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and seated on the thrones were twenty-four elders dressed in white clothes, with golden crowns on their heads.
5. From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings, and peals of thunder, and before the throne seven torches of fire were burning, which are the seven spirits of God.
6. Before the throne there was also something like a sea of glass, like crystal. In the middle of the throne and around the throne were four living creatures, full of eyes in front and behind.
7. The first living creature was like a lion, the second living creature was like a calf, the third living creature had a face like a human face, and the fourth living creature was like an eagle in flight.
8. Each of the four living creatures had six wings, and they were full of eyes all around and within. Day and night they never stop saying, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Almighty, who was and who is and who is coming!”
9. Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to the one seated on the throne, who lives forever and ever,
10. the twenty-four elders fall down before the one seated on the throne and worship the one who lives forever and ever. They cast their crowns before the throne and say,
11. “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive the glory and the honor and the power, for you created all things, and because of your will they existed and were created.”
