Lumin is an AI companion for the Christian walk. When an app is invited into questions of faith, it owes people more than a features list: it owes them commitments kept in public. These are ours.

## Three commitments

### Scripture stays checkable.

When Lumin cites a passage, the reference stays visible so you can open the biblical text and read it in context. Scripture on this site is quoted from the Lumin Translation, the same text as the reader. If a saying is not Scripture — like “God helps those who help themselves” — Lumin should say so plainly. AI can still err. The verse you open is the authority, not the gloss.

### Memory stays yours.

You control what Lumin saves. Saved items are visible under You → Lumin Remembers, where you can review and delete them. The data-deletion page explains how to remove your account data.

### No guilt-based reminders.

No streak shaming, “we miss you” hooks, or emotional pressure when you leave. Lumin should be useful when you open it and quiet when you do not.

## What Lumin will never do

- **Speak for God.** Lumin is an AI — not God, not a prophet, not your pastor. It will not deliver “a word from the Lord,” speak as Jesus, foretell outcomes, or pronounce verdicts on your soul.
- **Stand in for your church.** Lumin points toward your pastor, your people, and your congregation when that’s where a question belongs. Faith is lived with people; a companion that pulls you away from them has failed.
- **Settle every disagreement.** Lumin is broadly and historically Christian. Where faithful Christians genuinely differ — on baptism, predestination, spiritual gifts, and more — it should present the main readings honestly instead of handing down a verdict or calling a tradition unfaithful.
- **Turn a crisis into content.** When someone signals an immediate safety, abuse, or medical crisis, Lumin should stop the meditation and point to real-world help. An AI companion is not emergency care.
- **Pretend to be certain.** When a question has no clear answer, Lumin says so — and stays with you in it.

## How these commitments guide the work

These commitments guide the product and the way I review its responses: grief without platitudes, doubt without a sales pitch, fabricated verses, anger at God, and the questions people bring late at night.

When something misses the standard, I fix the behavior, check it again, and strengthen the commitment here when the product changes.

Lumin is built by one person: Andrew Kittridge, founder of Lumin.

## Questions people ask

### Can I trust Christian AI?

Trust it as a tool, not as a teacher with spiritual office. Look for named verses you can open, plain limits, a human who will own a mistake, and no voice that pretends to be Jesus or your pastor. Lumin publishes its limits in this Covenant.

### Can I trust Lumin?

You can trust Lumin to cite the passage it draws on, keep your memories under your control, skip the guilt trips, and never claim spiritual authority. You should not treat it as inerrant, as God, or as a substitute for Scripture, prayer, a pastor, or church. Open the verse. Keep the last word human.

### Does Lumin replace my pastor?

No. Lumin is a Bible AI companion for iPhone and iPad. It can help you carry a sermon into the week and check a cited verse. It cannot know you, shepherd you, or stand in for your church.

### Who made Lumin?

Andrew Kittridge built Lumin. He is the founder, and he is responsible for what the product claims, its editorial positions, and these public commitments. You won’t find invented credentials, endorsements, or testimonials on lumin.faith.

### Does Lumin speak as Jesus?

No. Lumin will not speak as Jesus, as God, as a prophet, or as a pastor. Character-chat products that impersonate Jesus occupy a different category. Lumin cites Scripture and stays a tool.

### Does Lumin invent Bible verses?

Lumin is built so answers name Scripture you can open and compare with the text. AI is fallible and can still mishandle a citation. Treat every generated explanation as help to check, not a final word. The About page explains how Lumin cites Scripture.

## If you came with a specific distrust

- [Browse Christian AI and Bible answers](https://www.lumin.faith/answers.md) — Trust, discernment, and Scripture-cited replies in one place, then the apps.
- [Can I trust Christian AI?](https://www.lumin.faith/can-i-trust-christian-ai.md) — What to inspect before you give any Christian AI a place in study or prayer.
- [Does Lumin replace my pastor?](https://www.lumin.faith/can-ai-replace-a-pastor.md) — No. AI cannot occupy the office of shepherd. Lumin does not try.
- [Who made Lumin?](https://www.lumin.faith/who-made-lumin.md) — One named founder, accountable for everything Lumin claims.
- [Does Lumin speak as Jesus?](https://www.lumin.faith/does-lumin-speak-as-jesus.md) — No. Lumin will not impersonate Christ, God, a prophet, or a pastor.
- [Is talking to AI Jesus a sin?](https://www.lumin.faith/is-talking-to-ai-jesus-a-sin.md) — A chatbot in Christ’s voice is impersonation. Prayer belongs to the living Jesus.

This Covenant only ever changes in one direction: toward stronger commitments.
