Questions people ask before they trust a Bible AI companion
Lumin is a Christian Bible AI companion for iPhone and iPad, made for the days between Sundays. It’s free to start. It can help you study, pray, and think through hard questions, but it doesn’t replace Scripture, your pastor, or your church. Here are straight answers on installing, pricing, citations, privacy, and those limits.

The companion
What is Lumin?
Lumin is a Christian Bible AI companion for iPhone and iPad, made for the days between Sundays. It does four things: Ask answers a real question with Scripture you can open, Bible Coach guides you through the chapter you are reading, Pray makes room for morning and evening prayer, and Sermon Week helps you carry Sunday’s sermon through the week.
On the App Store it’s listed as Lumin: Bible AI Companion. Lumin+ adds higher daily limits and The Counsel, a slower, Scripture-cited letter for harder questions. Subscription support has the details.
Lumin is a companion, not a replacement for Scripture, your church, or your pastor. Open the passages it cites and read them in context, and let the Word and the people who know you have the final say. The Lumin Covenant sets out those limits in writing.
Getting started
How do I get Lumin?
Download Lumin from the Apple App Store (app ID 6754889412). It runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS or iPadOS 17.0 or later. You can also sign in to the web companion at /app, which includes Ask.
Lumin isn’t on Android yet, and we won’t promise a date. If you need an Android app today, Lumin isn’t the right fit.
Free and Lumin+
Is Lumin free? What is Lumin+?
Yes, you can start free. The App Store lists Lumin as free with in-app purchases. Lumin+ adds higher daily limits and The Counsel.
Plan names, prices, trial eligibility, usage limits, and taxes all appear in the App Store before you confirm a purchase, and the purchase screen lists everything Lumin+ includes.
For questions about trials and billing, go to subscription support.
Citations
Does Lumin invent Bible verses? Can I check citations?
Lumin is built to point you to Scripture you can open. When it names a passage, the reference is right there, so you can read the text and compare it with the answer. AI can still get things wrong. Treat every explanation as help to check, not as the final word on what a passage means.
Ask starts from a question in your life and answers with cited Scripture. Bible Coach works inside the chapter you are reading, so the passage never leaves the screen. Either way, the text and the people who know you get the last word.
Church first
Does Lumin replace my pastor or church?
No. Lumin can help with study, reflection, and questions. It carries no spiritual authority, and it can’t replace Scripture, prayer, conscience, pastoral care, discernment, or life in a church.
For the weighty questions — a calling, a marriage, harm done to you, doctrine that divides a congregation — go to people who know you. Lumin can help you find a passage and put your question into words. It can’t shepherd you.
Memory and ads
Privacy, memory, and ads
If you allow it, Lumin can remember the prayers and moments you choose to keep. You can see all of it under You → Lumin Remembers, and hide, edit, or delete anything there.
Your prayers and reflections stay in your account. They are never sold, you can clear them at any time, and the app has no ads and no public feed. The Covenant also rules out streak-shaming and guilt-trip “we miss you” notifications.
For how data is stored, who processes it, and how to delete it, read the privacy policy and the data deletion page.
After Sunday
How do I bring a sermon into the week?
Add a sermon by YouTube link, podcast, audio file, or recording. Lumin gives you a clear digest, the key Scripture, an Anchor line to carry, and one faithful step for the week. Come back to it any day without starting over.
Record only with permission. Sermon Week helps you organize and revisit what you heard; it doesn’t replace worship or your pastor’s care. And it’s one part of Lumin, not the whole app.
Lumin+
What is The Counsel?
For questions that need more than a quick reply, The Counsel writes a slower, Scripture-cited letter you can keep and reopen. It’s included with Lumin+, along with higher daily limits; subscription support lists it among the Lumin+ features.
The current App Store description does not name The Counsel in its feature list. The feature first shipped in version 3.11.0 in June 2026.
Most questions are best started in Ask, which is free. The Counsel doesn’t replace a counselor, a pastor, or a church.
Billing
Cancel, trial, and billing

Does Lumin invent or misquote Bible verses?
Lumin is built to point you to Scripture you can open and compare with its answer. But AI can get things wrong, so treat every explanation as help to check, not the final word. Let the text and the people who know you have the last say.
Can I open and check every Scripture citation?
Yes. When Lumin names a passage, the reference is right there. Open it, read it in context, and compare it with the reply.
Does Lumin replace my pastor, counselor, or church?
No. Lumin is a companion. It can help with study, reflection, and questions, but it carries no spiritual authority and can’t replace Scripture, prayer, conscience, pastoral care, discernment, or your church.
Can I trust Christian AI?
Trust it the way you would any fallible tool: check its verses, and never treat it as a pastor or as God. Look for citations you can open, limits stated plainly, a real person who owns mistakes, and no voice pretending to be Jesus. Lumin publishes its limits in the Covenant.
Does Lumin speak as Jesus?
No. Lumin will not speak as Jesus, as God, as a prophet, or as a pastor. It points you to Scripture you can open. Apps that let you “chat with Jesus” are a different kind of product.
Who made Lumin?
Andrew Kittridge. He founded Lumin and is personally responsible for what it claims, its editorial positions, and the public Covenant. The site doesn’t invent credentials or testimonials.
What are Lumin’s limits as AI?
AI can help organize a sermon, support study, offer a prompt for prayer, and answer questions. It can’t pray for you, speak as God, know you the way a pastor does, or shepherd you. For the weighty questions, go to people who know you.
Should Christians use AI for prayer?
Yes, within limits. AI can help someone get started. It can’t pray, believe, confess, or speak for God. Lumin offers prompts and a structure; you do the praying. “Should Christians use AI for prayer?” goes deeper.
Does Lumin remember my prayers? Can I edit or delete them?
Only if you allow it, and only what you choose to keep. You can see everything under You → Lumin Remembers and hide, edit, or delete any of it. You can also clear your account data from the data deletion page.
Is Lumin private — ads, selling data?
Your prayers and reflections stay in your account, are never sold, and can be cleared at any time. The app has no ads and no public feed. The Lumin Covenant, the privacy policy, and the data-deletion page have the details.
How do I import a sermon?
Add it by YouTube link, podcast, audio file, or recording. Lumin gives you a digest, the key Scripture, an Anchor line, and one faithful step, and you can come back to it all week. The Sermon Week page shows how it works.

Apple manages Lumin billing. Follow the steps on the subscription support page to end a trial or cancel. Prices, trial eligibility, and taxes always appear in the App Store before you confirm a purchase.
What is The Counsel?
The Counsel writes a slower, Scripture-cited letter for questions that need more than a quick reply, and you can keep it and reopen it later. It’s included with Lumin+, along with higher daily limits. It doesn’t replace a counselor or pastor.
