Pray

Make room to pray — morning, evening, and the in-between

Pray gives you a quieter way in: guided prayer for the morning and evening, reflection for the hours in between, and spoken prayer you can follow with your eyes closed or out on a walk. Lumin can offer a prompt and a shape. It does not pray for you, speak as God, or replace your church.

The quieter way in

What Pray is in Lumin

Some days the hardest part of prayer is starting. Pray offers a gentle way in: a guided prayer to begin the morning, another to close the evening, and a short reflection when you need one in the middle of the day.

You can also pray out loud. Spoken, guided prayer lets you follow along with nothing to read, and a prayer walk lets you speak it as you move.

A hard line

AI helps you begin; it does not pray for you

Lumin can give you words to start with and a rhythm to follow. That’s all. Prayer itself is yours: your words, your silence, your attention turned toward God. The app can’t speak for God, and it can’t replace Scripture, pastoral care, or your church.

If you are still deciding whether praying with any AI is wise, read Should Christians use AI for prayer? first. Lumin’s answer comes down to one line: help getting started is not the same as someone praying on your behalf.

What you keep

Privacy and what you keep

If you choose, Lumin can keep the prayers and moments you want to remember. You can see everything it keeps, and edit, hide, or delete any of it. When a prayer is answered, you can mark it. Lumin keeps the record; it doesn’t decide what God has done.

Your prayers and reflections stay in your account. They are never sold, you can clear them at any time, and the app has no ads. There are no streaks to keep and no guilt for missing a day. Prayer isn’t a score.

What it isn’t

Not a celebrity library — and not your church

Some prayer apps are large audio libraries, with hundreds of sessions and famous voices. Lumin is smaller on purpose: a companion for the days between Sundays. Prayer sits alongside Ask, Bible Coach, and Sermon Week. It doesn’t replace a prayer book, a daily office, or a congregation.

If you want a side-by-side look at the prayer apps, read the Christian prayer app guide or one of the comparisons below.

Begin

Start praying

Download Lumin from the App Store for iPhone and iPad. It’s free to start. Finishing a guided prayer is not the same as an answered prayer, and Lumin will never tell you otherwise.

Step by step

How to begin prayer in Lumin

Three steps, all free: open Pray, pick the hour, and pray in your own words. Finishing the steps is not the same as an answered prayer.

  1. Open Pray

Open Lumin on iPhone or iPad, or sign in to the web companion, and go to Pray.

  2. Choose morning, evening, or guided reflection

Pick what fits the hour — morning, evening, or a quiet moment in between. There’s no streak to protect.

  3. Pray in your own words

Let the prompt or spoken guide get you started, then pray. The prayer is yours; the app does not speak to God for you.

Questions

People also ask

Does Lumin offer morning and evening prayer?

Yes. Pray includes guided prayer for the morning and evening, plus short reflections for the rest of the day — a gentle way to begin when words are hard.

Does Lumin pray for me?

No. Lumin can give you words to start with and a rhythm to follow, but it does not pray for you, speak for God, or replace Scripture, pastoral care, or your church.

Are my prayers private?

Yes. Your prayers and reflections stay in your account, are never sold, and can be cleared at any time. The app has no ads. Lumin keeps only what you choose to keep, and you can edit or delete it.

Can I pray out loud with Lumin?

Yes. Spoken, guided prayer lets you follow along with your eyes closed, and a prayer walk lets you speak your prayer as you move.

Is praying with AI okay?

AI can help you begin when words are hard. It can’t pray, discern God’s will, or speak with spiritual authority. Treat any words it offers as a draft to test, not as God’s voice. “Should Christians use AI for prayer?” goes deeper.

How is Pray in Lumin different from Hallow or Lectio 365?

Hallow and Lectio 365 are built around audio libraries and daily offices. Pray in Lumin is part of a companion for the days between Sundays: short guided prayer tied to the Scripture and sermon you are already carrying. Lumin’s guide to Christian prayer apps and the side-by-side comparisons go into more detail.

Will Lumin claim to be God’s voice?

No. The Covenant says Lumin will never speak for God, offer “a word from the Lord,” or act as a prophet. Its prompts are help, not revelation.
