What does the Bible say about salvation?
Salvation in the Bible is gift, not wage. By grace you are saved through faith — not a ladder of achievement. God loves, the Son is given, people turn and believe, and they are baptized into the life of the church. Good works follow as fruit. They are not the purchase price.
Bible verses about salvation
- Ephesians 2:8-9By grace you are saved through faith; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
- John 3:16God loved the world and gave his Son so that whoever believes would not perish but have eternal life.
- Romans 10:9-10If you confess Jesus as Lord and believe God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
- Acts 2:38Peter tells the crowd to repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins.
- Romans 6:23The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
- Titus 3:4-5God saved us not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy, through rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.
- John 14:6Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through him.
- Acts 4:12Salvation is found in no one else; there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this does not come from you; it is God’s gift, not from works, so that nobody can boast. The headline is mercy. Boasting is excluded so that Christ can be the Savior, not a coach you finally impressed. If you want to begin, tell God the truth, trust Jesus, and join a church that will teach you the Scriptures. Broadly Christian faith has always held that this gift is received, then lived.
