“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, and believe in me too.
There are many dwelling places in my Father’s house. If it were not so, would I have said to you that I am on my way to prepare a place for you?
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I am coming back, and I will take you to be with me, so that you too may be where I am.
And where I am going—you know the way.”
Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are headed. How are we able to know the way?”
Jesus said to him, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
If you have come to know me, you will also know my Father. Starting now, you know him and have seen him.”
Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied.”
Jesus said to him, “I have been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you have not come to know me? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I speak to you are not from myself. Rather, the Father who remains in me is doing his works.
Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. If not, then believe on the evidence of the works themselves.
Truly, truly I tell you, the one who believes in me—that person will also do the works I am doing, and will do greater ones than these, because I am going to the Father.
And whatever you ask in my name, that is what I will do, so that the Father will be glorified in the Son.
If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.
If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
Then I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, so that he may be with you forever,
the Spirit of truth, whom the world is unable to receive, since it does not see him or know him. You know him, because he remains with you and will be in you.
I will not leave you as orphans; I am coming to you.
In a short time the world will not see me any longer, but you will see me. Since I live, you will live as well.
When that day comes, you will know that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.
The person who has my commandments and keeps them—that is the one who loves me. My Father will love the one who loves me, and I will love him and reveal myself to him.”
Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, “Lord, what has happened, that you are about to reveal yourself to us and not to the world?”
Jesus answered him, “Anyone who loves me will keep my word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our dwelling place with him.
The one who does not love me does not keep my words. And the word you are hearing is not my own; it belongs to the Father who sent me.
I have said these things to you while I remain with you.
But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name—he will teach you everything and bring to your mind all that I said to you.
I leave peace with you; I give you my peace. I do not give it to you the way the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be fearful.
You heard what I told you: ‘I am going away, and I am coming to you.’ If you loved me, you would rejoice that I am going to the Father, since the Father is greater than I am.
I have now told you before it comes about, so that when it comes about, you may believe.
I will not say much more to you, because the ruler of the world is coming. There is nothing in me that belongs to him,
but so that the world may know that I love the Father, I act exactly as the Father has commanded me. Get up; let us leave this place.”
