Genesis 1

Lumin Translation 2.0 checked against the Hebrew and Greek How it was made

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

The earth was shapeless and empty, and darkness lay over the face of the deep, while the Spirit of God hovered over the face of the waters.

God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

God saw that the light was good, and God separated the light from the darkness.

God called the light Day and called the darkness Night. There was evening and there was morning—the first day.

God said, “Let there be an expanse in the middle of the waters, and let it separate water from water.”

God made the expanse, and he separated the waters beneath the expanse from those above the expanse, and it was so.

God called the expanse Sky. There was evening and there was morning—the second day.

God said, “Let the waters beneath the sky collect in one place, and let dry ground appear,” and it was so.

God called the dry ground Earth, and he called the collected waters Seas. God saw that it was good.

God said, “Let the earth put forth green growth: plants that produce seed, and fruit trees on the earth that bear fruit according to their kinds, fruit with its seed inside it,” and it was so.

The earth put forth green growth: plants that produce seed according to their kinds, and trees that bear fruit with its seed inside it, according to their kinds. God saw that it was good.

There was evening and there was morning—the third day.

God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate day from night. Let them serve as signs and mark the appointed times, the days, and the years.

Let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to shine on the earth,” and it was so.

God made the two great lights—the larger light to govern the day and the smaller light to govern the night—as well as the stars.

God put them in the expanse of the sky to shine on the earth,

to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. God saw that it was good.

There was evening and there was morning—the fourth day.

God said, “Let the waters teem with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly over the earth, across the face of the expanse of the sky.”

God created the great creatures of the sea and every living creature that moves about, with which the waters teemed, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. God saw that it was good.

God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters of the seas, and let the birds become numerous on the earth.”

There was evening and there was morning—the fifth day.

God said, “Let the earth give rise to living creatures according to their kinds—livestock, crawling things, and the earth’s wild animals according to their kinds,” and it was so.

God made the earth’s wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and every crawling thing of the ground according to its kind. God saw that it was good.

Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness. They are to rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the sky, the livestock and the whole earth, and every crawling thing that crawls on the earth.”

So God created man in his image; in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and subdue it, and rule the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, and every living thing that crawls on the earth.”

God said, “Here, I have given you every seed-producing plant across the face of the whole earth, and every tree whose fruit produces seed. They will be your food.

To all the wild animals of the earth, all the birds of the sky, and all that crawls on the earth—every creature that has life within it—I have given all the green plants as food,” and it was so.

God looked at everything he had made, and it was very good indeed. There was evening and there was morning—the sixth day.
