Lumin Translation
Peter 5
Lumin Translation 2.0 checked against the Hebrew and Greek How it was made
So to the elders among you I make this appeal, as one who is an elder with you, a witness of Christ’s sufferings, and a sharer in the glory about to be revealed:
tend God’s flock among you, overseeing it not under pressure but freely, as God desires, not with a shameful hunger for profit but with eagerness,
not acting as masters over the people allotted to your care, but becoming models for the flock.
Then, when the Chief Shepherd is revealed, you will receive the crown of glory, one that never withers.
Likewise, those of you who are younger must accept the authority of the elders. All of you, wrap yourselves in humility in your dealings with one another, because “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
Therefore let yourselves be humbled under God’s powerful hand, so that when the time comes he may lift you high.
Throw every worry you have onto him, because he cares about you.
Keep a clear head and stay awake. Your opponent, the devil, is on the prowl like a roaring lion, searching for someone to swallow up.
Stand up to him, steady in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are being endured by your brothers and sisters all over the world.
Once you have suffered for a short time, the God of all grace, who called you into his eternal glory in Christ Jesus, will himself restore you, steady you, strengthen you, and give you a firm foundation.
To him be the power forever. Amen.
I have written you this short letter through Silvanus, a faithful brother, as I consider him, to urge you on and to bear witness that this is God’s true grace. Take your stand in it.
Greetings to you from her who is in Babylon, chosen together with you, and from Mark my son.
Greet each other with a loving kiss. Peace be with all of you who are in Christ.
