12Hope delayed makes the heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life.
13Whoever despises the word will pay for it, but whoever fears the command will be rewarded.
14The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, turning a person away from the snares of death.
15Good sense wins favor, but the way of the treacherous is harsh.
16Every shrewd person acts with knowledge, but a fool displays his folly.
17A wicked messenger falls into trouble, but a trustworthy envoy brings healing.
18Poverty and disgrace come to the one who ignores discipline, but whoever heeds correction is honored.
19A desire fulfilled is sweet to the soul, but turning away from evil is detestable to fools.
20Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.
21Disaster pursues sinners, but the righteous are repaid with good.
22A good person leaves an inheritance to his grandchildren, but the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous.
23The unplowed field of the poor may yield much food, but some is swept away for lack of justice.
24Whoever holds back his rod hates his son, but whoever loves him is careful to discipline him.
25The righteous eat until they are satisfied, but the stomach of the wicked goes empty.
