Joshua 11

Lumin Translation 2.0 checked against the Hebrew and Greek How it was made

When Jabin king of Hazor heard of this, he sent word to Jobab king of Madon, to the king of Shimron, to the king of Achshaph,

and to the kings who were in the north, in the hill country, in the Arabah south of Chinneroth, in the lowland, and in Naphoth-dor on the west,

to the Canaanites in the east and the west, the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, and the Jebusites in the hill country, and the Hivites below Hermon in the land of Mizpah.

They came out, they and all their armies with them, a huge army, as numerous as the sand on the seashore, with a great many horses and chariots.

All these kings joined forces and came and camped together at the waters of Merom to fight against Israel.

Yahweh said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them, for tomorrow at this time I will hand all of them over to Israel, slain. You are to hamstring their horses and burn their chariots with fire.”

So Joshua and all the fighting men with him came against them suddenly at the waters of Merom and fell upon them.

Yahweh gave them into the hand of Israel, and they struck them down and pursued them as far as Great Sidon and Misrephoth-maim, and eastward as far as the Valley of Mizpeh. They struck them down until no survivor was left.

Joshua did to them as Yahweh had told him: he hamstrung their horses and burned their chariots with fire.

At that time Joshua turned back and captured Hazor, and he struck its king down with the sword. Hazor had formerly been the head of all these kingdoms.

They struck every person in it with the edge of the sword, devoting them to destruction. Nothing that breathed was left, and he burned Hazor with fire.

Joshua captured all the cities of these kings and all their kings. He struck them with the edge of the sword and devoted them to destruction, as Moses the servant of Yahweh had commanded.

But Israel did not burn any of the cities that stood on their mounds, except Hazor alone; that one Joshua burned.

The Israelites took for themselves all the plunder of these cities and the livestock. But every person they struck with the edge of the sword until they had destroyed them. They left no one that breathed.

As Yahweh had commanded his servant Moses, so Moses commanded Joshua, and so Joshua did. He left nothing undone of all that Yahweh had commanded Moses.

So Joshua took this whole land: the hill country, all the Negev, all the land of Goshen, the lowland, the Arabah, and the hill country of Israel with its lowland,

from Mount Halak, which rises toward Seir, as far as Baal-gad in the Valley of Lebanon below Mount Hermon. He captured all their kings and struck them down and put them to death.

Joshua waged war against all these kings for a long time.

There was not a city that made peace with the Israelites except the Hivites living in Gibeon. They took them all in battle.

For it was Yahweh’s doing to harden their hearts to meet Israel in battle, so that they would be devoted to destruction without receiving any mercy, and so be destroyed, as Yahweh had commanded Moses.

At that time Joshua came and wiped out the Anakim from the hill country, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the hill country of Judah and all the hill country of Israel. Joshua devoted them and their towns to destruction.

No Anakim were left in the land of the Israelites; only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod did some remain.

So Joshua took the whole land, just as Yahweh had told Moses, and Joshua gave it as an inheritance to Israel according to their divisions by tribes. And the land had rest from war.
