Romans 8

Lumin Translation 2.0 checked against the Hebrew and Greek How it was made

So now there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

For the law of the Spirit who gives life in Christ Jesus has freed you from the law of sin and of death.

For God has accomplished what the law was unable to do because the flesh made it weak. Sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and on account of sin, he condemned sin in the flesh,

so that the just requirement of the law would be fully met in us, who conduct our lives not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

For those who live according to the flesh fix their thinking on the things of the flesh, while those who live according to the Spirit fix their thinking on the things of the Spirit.

For the mindset of the flesh is death, while the mindset of the Spirit is life and peace.

This is because the mindset of the flesh is at enmity with God; it does not subject itself to God’s law, and in fact it is not able to.

People who are in the flesh are unable to please God.

But you are not in the flesh; you are in the Spirit—if indeed God’s Spirit makes his home in you. Whoever does not have the Spirit of Christ is not one of his.

But if Christ is in you, then the body is dead on account of sin, yet the Spirit is life on account of righteousness.

And if the Spirit of the one who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, then he who raised Christ from the dead will also bring your mortal bodies to life by his Spirit living in you.

So then, brothers and sisters, we owe a debt, but not to the flesh, as if we had to live according to the flesh.

For if you live according to the flesh, you are headed for death; but if by the Spirit you are putting the body’s deeds to death, you will live.

For those who are led by the Spirit of God—these are God’s sons.

For the spirit you received is not one of slavery that returns you to fear. Rather, you received the Spirit of adoption, through whom we cry out, “Abba! Father!”

The Spirit himself joins with our spirit in bearing witness that we are God’s children.

And if we are children, we are also heirs: heirs of God, and heirs together with Christ, if in fact we suffer alongside him so that we may also be glorified alongside him.

For as I see it, the sufferings of this present time are not worthy of comparison with the glory that is going to be revealed to us.

For the creation, eagerly expecting, is waiting for the sons of God to be revealed.

For the creation was made subject to emptiness—not of its own will, but because of the one who made it subject—in the hope

that creation itself will also be released from enslavement to decay and enter the freedom of the glory of God’s children.

For we know that the entire creation has been groaning together and laboring in birth pains together up to the present.

And that is not all. We ourselves, who possess the firstfruits of the Spirit—we too groan within ourselves as we eagerly await our adoption, the redemption of our bodies.

For we were saved in hope. Yet a hope that can already be seen is no longer hope—after all, who hopes for something they are looking at?

But if we are hoping for what we do not see, we wait for it eagerly with endurance.

In the same manner, the Spirit also comes to the aid of our weakness. For we do not know what we should pray for in the way we need to, but the Spirit himself pleads for us with groans that cannot be put into words.

And the one who searches hearts knows what the Spirit has in mind, because the Spirit pleads for the saints in the way God wants.

We know that, for those who love God, all things work together toward good—for those who are called in keeping with his purpose.

For those he knew in advance he also predestined to be shaped to match the image of his Son, so that his Son would be firstborn among many brothers and sisters.

The ones he predestined are the ones he also called; the ones he called are the ones he also justified; and the ones he justified are the ones he also glorified.

So what is there to say in light of all this? If God is for us, who can be against us?

He did not hold back his own Son but handed him over for all of us. How then will he not also freely give us all things together with him?

Who will press charges against those God has chosen? God is the one who justifies.

Who is there to condemn? It is Christ Jesus who died—or rather, who was raised—who is at God’s right hand, and who is also pleading for us.

Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Affliction, or anguish, or persecution, or hunger, or nakedness, or danger, or the sword?

As it is written, “For your sake we are being put to death all day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”

No, in all these things we win an overwhelming victory through the one who loved us.

For I am persuaded that not death, not life, not angels, not rulers, not things now present, not things yet to come, not powers,

not height, not depth, not any other created thing will have the power to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
