Chronicles 10
Lumin Translation 2.0 checked against the Hebrew and Greek How it was made
Now the Philistines fought against Israel, and the men of Israel fled before the Philistines and fell slain on Mount Gilboa.
The Philistines pressed hard after Saul and his sons, and the Philistines struck down Jonathan, Abinadab, and Malchishua, the sons of Saul.
The battle pressed hard against Saul. The archers found him, and he was wounded by the archers.
Saul said to his armor-bearer, “Draw your sword and run me through with it, or these uncircumcised men will come and make sport of me.” But his armor-bearer was unwilling, because he was terrified. So Saul took the sword and fell on it.
When his armor-bearer saw that Saul was dead, he too fell on the sword and died.
So Saul died, along with his three sons, and his whole house died together.
When all the men of Israel who were in the valley saw that the army had fled and that Saul and his sons were dead, they abandoned their towns and fled. Then the Philistines came and lived in them.
The next day, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, they found Saul and his sons fallen on Mount Gilboa.
They stripped him and took his head and his armor, and they sent messengers throughout the land of the Philistines to spread the news to their idols and to the people.
They put his armor in the temple of their gods and fastened his skull in the temple of Dagon.
When all Jabesh-gilead heard everything the Philistines had done to Saul,
all the brave men set out and took the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons and brought them to Jabesh. They buried their bones under the oak in Jabesh and fasted seven days.
So Saul died for his unfaithfulness, because he was unfaithful to Yahweh: he did not keep the word of Yahweh, and he even asked a medium for guidance,
and he did not inquire of Yahweh. So Yahweh put him to death and turned the kingdom over to David son of Jesse.
