Lumin Translation
Job 2
Lumin Translation 2.0 checked against the Hebrew and Greek How it was made
Another day came when the sons of God came to present themselves before Yahweh, and Satan also came among them to present himself before Yahweh.
Yahweh said to Satan, “Where have you come from?” Satan answered Yahweh, “From roaming the earth and walking back and forth on it.”
Yahweh said to Satan, “Have you noticed my servant Job? There is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man who fears God and turns away from evil. He still holds firmly to his integrity, although you incited me against him to ruin him for no reason.”
Satan answered Yahweh, “Skin for skin! A man will give everything he has for his life.
But stretch out your hand now and strike his bone and his flesh, and he will surely curse you to your face.”
Yahweh said to Satan, “Very well, he is in your power; only spare his life.”
So Satan went out from the presence of Yahweh and struck Job with painful sores from the sole of his foot to the top of his head.
Job took a piece of broken pottery to scrape himself with while he sat among the ashes.
His wife said to him, “Are you still holding firmly to your integrity? Curse God and die!”
But he said to her, “You are talking like one of the foolish women. Should we accept good from God and not accept trouble?” In all this Job did not sin with his lips.
When Job’s three friends heard about all this trouble that had come on him, they came, each from his own place: Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite. They had arranged to meet together to come and show him sympathy and comfort him.
When they looked up from a distance, they did not recognize him. They raised their voices and wept, and each of them tore his robe and threw dust into the air over their heads.
Then they sat on the ground with him for seven days and seven nights, and no one said a word to him, because they saw that his suffering was very great.
