Job 42

Lumin Translation 2.0 checked against the Hebrew and Greek How it was made

Then Job answered Yahweh:

“I know that you can do all things, and no purpose of yours can be thwarted.

You asked, ‘Who is this who obscures counsel without knowledge?’ So I have spoken of what I did not understand, things too wonderful for me, which I did not know.

You said, ‘Listen now, and I will speak; I will question you, and you will inform me.’

I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye has seen you.

Therefore I reject what I said, and I repent in dust and ashes.”

After Yahweh had spoken these words to Job, he said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “My anger burns against you and your two friends, because you have not spoken what is right about me, as my servant Job has.

So now take seven bulls and seven rams, go to my servant Job, and offer a burnt offering for yourselves. My servant Job will pray for you, and I will accept him and not deal with you as your folly deserves, for you have not spoken what is right about me, as my servant Job has.”

So Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite went and did what Yahweh had told them, and Yahweh accepted Job.

Yahweh restored Job’s fortunes when he prayed for his friends, and Yahweh gave Job twice as much as he had before.

Then all his brothers and sisters and everyone who had known him before came to him and ate a meal with him in his house. They showed him sympathy and comforted him over all the trouble Yahweh had brought on him, and each of them gave him a kesitah and a gold ring.

Yahweh blessed the latter part of Job’s life more than the first. He had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand female donkeys.

He also had seven sons and three daughters.

He named the first Jemimah, the second Keziah, and the third Keren-happuch.

In all the land there were no women as beautiful as Job’s daughters, and their father gave them an inheritance along with their brothers.

After this Job lived 140 years; he saw his children and his children’s children, four generations.

Then Job died, an old man and full of days.
