Lumin Translation
Leviticus 10
Lumin Translation 2.0 checked against the Hebrew and Greek How it was made
Aaron’s sons Nadab and Abihu each took his censer, put fire in it, and laid incense on it, and they offered unauthorized fire before Yahweh, which he had not commanded them.
Fire came out from Yahweh’s presence and consumed them, and they died before Yahweh.
Then Moses said to Aaron, “This is what Yahweh meant when he said, ‘Among those who are near me I will show myself holy, and before all the people I will be glorified.’” And Aaron was silent.
Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Aaron’s uncle Uzziel, and said to them, “Come here and carry your relatives away from the front of the sanctuary to a place outside the camp.”
So they came and carried them, still in their tunics, outside the camp, as Moses had said.
Then Moses said to Aaron and to his sons Eleazar and Ithamar, “Do not let the hair of your heads hang loose, and do not tear your clothes, or you will die, and Yahweh will be angry with the whole congregation. But your relatives, the whole house of Israel, may weep over the burning that Yahweh has brought about.
Do not leave the entrance of the tent of meeting, or you will die, for Yahweh’s anointing oil is on you.” So they did as Moses said.
Yahweh spoke to Aaron:
“Do not drink wine or beer, you or your sons with you, when you go into the tent of meeting, or you will die. This is a permanent statute throughout your generations.
You are to distinguish between the holy and the common, and between the unclean and the clean,
and you are to teach the Israelites all the statutes that Yahweh has spoken to them through Moses.”
Moses said to Aaron and to his remaining sons, Eleazar and Ithamar, “Take the grain offering that is left over from the fire offerings to Yahweh and eat it unleavened beside the altar, for it is most holy.
Eat it in a holy place, because it is your share and your sons’ share from the fire offerings to Yahweh, for this is what I have been commanded.
But the breast of the wave offering and the thigh of the contribution you may eat in a clean place, you and your sons and your daughters with you, for they have been given as your share and your sons’ share from the sacrifices of fellowship offerings of the Israelites.
The thigh of the contribution and the breast of the wave offering they are to bring together with the fat portions for the fire offerings, to wave them as a wave offering before Yahweh. They will belong to you and to your sons with you as a permanent share, as Yahweh has commanded.”
Then Moses searched carefully for the goat of the sin offering and found that it had been burned up. He was angry with Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron’s remaining sons, and said,
“Why did you not eat the sin offering in the holy place? It is most holy, and he has given it to you to bear the guilt of the congregation, to make atonement for them before Yahweh.
Since its blood was not brought inside the holy place, you should certainly have eaten it in the holy place, as I commanded.”
Aaron said to Moses, “Look, today they offered their sin offering and their burnt offering before Yahweh, and things like these have happened to me. If I had eaten the sin offering today, would Yahweh have been pleased?”
When Moses heard this, he was satisfied.
